Remodels - Return on Investment?

With people staying (or stuck) at home over the last year, many had the time to tackle home improvement projects. Some are under the impression that they might get 100% of their money back by making an improvement prior to a sale, but that is rarely the case. What they will could get back however is increased salability, better offers and shorter time on market!

In the Housecall Blog by RisMedia "Cost vs Value" report the three highest projects with the best return on investment are a Garage Door Replacement (94% ROI), adding Stone Veneer to the outside (92%), and the ever popular Minor Kitchen Remodel (72%). Interestingly a Major Kitchen Remodel came in less at 57% ROI so that is food for thought if you are thinking about a total redo in the Kitchen. Needless to say home renovations are changes you should enjoy and so we recommend that be the focus over a specific return unless you are selling in the very near future where the consideration of a return on investment would be more timely.

Massive Historical Photo Collection

A massive collection of historical photos, like the one above, many of the Flathead Valley and Glacier Park, from as early as the 1890s, were recently donated to the Northwest Montana History Museum in Kalispell by the Gilliland Family of Somers. Preservation efforts are underway for the thousands of old prints and negatives along with scanning & digitizing so that they can be easily shared.
