How Was the Real Estate Market in May?

As we continue to watch the market, we bring the most recent news with figures for May 2021. There's not much of a change from our last report a few weeks ago. Buyers are still seeking property in the Flathead Valley and struggling with the low inventory while many sellers are seeing a nice return on their investments.

Comparing May of 2020 to May 2021 in Flathead County, closed sales for homes are up 29.9% over last year with the median sales price up an impressive 40.7%.

Throughout Lake County, home sales are up 34.5% from the month of May 2020 to same month in 2021, and the median sales prices hold firm with a 51.4% increase over last year. View May's stats for Lake County.

Looking at the market from a national perspective through a recent article by Mortgage Professionals of America, it noted that there is a slowing interest on a national basis for home sales, yet "consumers do appear more intent to purchase on their next move, a preference that may be supported by the expectation of continued low mortgage rates, as well as the elevated savings rate during the pandemic, which may have allowed many to afford a down payment." On the Lake This Father's Day

With Father's Day, June 20th around the corner, and our weather improving every day, there might not be a better time to treat Dad to lunch or dinner on a deck, on the Lake, or just outside under the Big Sky. To get you ahead of the game, we've selected some our of favorite spots to share with you.

Schafer's - Well known as one of the finer options for dining overlooking the Lake, Schafer's restaurant is just south of our real estate office in Bigfork just above Woods Bay. Be it a celebration for a day or just lunch overlooking the lake, you will feel like it's a special occasion every time you dine.

The Raven - For a tropical touch to your celebration, head to the Caribbean-themed restaurant and bar on the Lake's east shore. Known for their large selection of craft brews, wine, and locally distilled spirits, The Raven staff will be honored to toast to your Dad with locally grown food and celebrative beverages on the edge of Flathead Lake in Woods Bay.

The Shoe - As the region's newest (remodeled) option for lakeside dining, take a trip to Polson. You can by boat as their extensive investment includes a complete renovation of the boat slips adjacent to this new hot spot on the south shore. Call ahead to reserve a table on their expansive deck overlooking Flathead Lake.

Flathead Harbor at Lakeside - For a casual waterfront dining experience on the west side of the Lake, dine al fresco at the Marina in Lakeside. For a full day of fun, you might want to consider taking the whole gang on one of their popular boat tours which actually start on Father's Day and last throughout the season.
