For several years, our beloved Glacier National
Park has had a reservation system that was implemented to help control the increasing visitor traffic into limited structures and roads within the park.
Park
Superintendent, Dave Roemer, is looking for public input on how the system has worked. As "locals", we've certainly been frustrated with not being able to be spontaneous on a summer day to pop into the park whenever we wanted. But we think most of us can understand the strain on facilities and trails...and certainly parking issues... that some control measures were needed. So now is the time to express your thoughts and concerns in three meeting options: a virtual public meeting Aug 23, or in-person Open Houses on the east side on Aug 28 and west side on Aug 29,
2023.
From the website:
"We are very interested in learning about your park values, perceptions of a desirable experience, perceived issues, reactions to the reservation system pilots, and what management strategies or solutions interest you."
Public comment period is through September 30,2023.
